In Term 2 Edmond from the City of Whittlesea along with our Yan Yean Learning Community teachers supported students from YLC to work on a Young ICT Explorers project. Students from years 4,5 and 6 have been using buttons on the BBC Microbit to control the opening and closing of airlocks in a space station created in Minecraft-Pi. The students had to code the BBC Microbits in Micropython and use Python3 on the Raspberry Pi. Teachers selected a representative project to enter the Young ICT Explorers competition. As a result, our students have been invited to attend the Young ICT Explorers Victoria judging event on Saturday the 8th of September 2018 at Deakin University. Young ICT Explorers is a non-profit competition, which has been created by SAP to encourage school students to create their best Information and Communication Technology (ICT) related projects.
