We have been learning about 3D shapes. We experimented with ice spheres and watched them crack after we put salt and food colouring on top!
We have been weather scientists and have conducted experiments to ‘Make it Rain’ and to ‘Create Rainbows’. We have been using the writing strategies Power of Three and Onomatopoeia to describe our ‘dark, heavy and grey rain clouds’ and ‘colourful, bright and dazzling rainbows- wow!’
Throughout term 2, we were learning about how to care for our world through sustainable actions such as; recycling rubbish, composting food scraps, growing our own vegetables and caring for our home, school and community environments. We really enjoyed our walk to Simon Creek where we observed the environment and discussed ways that we could care for it. Another highlight from our sustainability unit was when we practised the sustainable action of healthy eating through a cooking incursion. We learnt how to prepare some healthy snacks such as bread sushi with tzatziki and fruit rainbows - YUM!
