Students from Prep to Grade 6 have been busy learning and designing body sections of different cultures to blend together as a Creative Cultures Term project. Students covered areas from Indigenous Australia, Asia, Africa and North America in their designs. They learned about the meaning of symbols, the occasions the designs are used for and the messages that they convey for the cultures. This term students will be using the Capturing Creativity focus to complete their Units in SMART Art. This unit is an acronym for the following topics: Sewing Material Appliques Reels and Textiles. Students across all grade levels will be working with a range of mediums, in various forms to create art pieces inspired from modern art forms.
This semester students will be using Culture & Capturing Creativity as a focus for their artworks in Visual Arts. Students from Prep-6 will be learning and creating pieces that display a range of cultural art forms and what they represent within that culture. The art influences will come from traditional and modern art forms that allow students to work with different materials, equipment and techniques.
This semester students will continue to learn about the elements of art from Grades Prep-2. In Grades 3-6, students will continue to be linking the principles of design in their art projects, building on their learning from the past year. Within their Visual Art sessions, students are encouraged to develop and use their creative thinking skills and processes to produce their individual art works.
This semester students will be introduced to the elements of art and making connections to the principles of design in the unit "CONNECTING ART & DESIGN." Students in Prep will be introduced to the first three Elements of Art including Line, Shape and Colour. Students from Grades 1-6 will be building on their knowledge of the base elements to further develop their creative skills and techniques within their Visual Arts sessions.
