Japanese Children's Day is hold on 5th of May every year.
SLC students have learnt about Children's Day and Koi Fish Flag.
The Koi is used as an icon for Children's Day.
Because Koi is a fish that swims upstream, and can leap out of the water over small obstacles.
So the Koi Fish Flag represents parent's hope for their children to grow strong
and in good health just like Koi Fish.

SLC students worked hard to read, write, say and listen to the zoo animal words throughout the term.

Here is a video of students playing the matching card game to show their Japanese skills.

CLC students made a profile with a self-portrait using the three basic self-introduction sentences.

1. Hello
2. My name is......
3. Pleased to meet you.

YYLC students created an anime profile using the six self-introduction sentences.

1. Hello
2. My name is......

Students have been making great achievements in Japanese class.
I am very proud of them and would like to share what they have accomplished.

PLC students have made great progress of getting used to the class routine and good at greetings in Japanese. At the beginning and end of Japanese class, students say "Konnichiwa (Hello)" and "Sayonara (Goodbye)." This week students have learned how to say Japan and draw the Japanese flag. It has been amazing to see their progress in every aspect, including getting used to the classroom routines and Japanese learning.

SLC students have learnt about Japanese New Years and Japanese Zodiac Animals in the first few weeks of this Term. Our new topic from this week is Zoo Animals. Students learnt how to say 4 animal names in Japanese with body actions. In the following lessons, students will work on a variety of language skills including letter recognitions, writing, reading, speaking and listening.

CLC students have also learnt about Japanese New Years and Japanese Zodiac Animals in the first few weeks of this Term. Our new topic is Self-introduction. Students were excited to learn how to write their names in Japanese, and say "My name is ....." in Japanese. Students will continue learning more self-introduction phrases in the following lessons.

In the last 3 weeks, YYLC students have been learning the 3 basic self-introductions: Greeting, Name, and Grade 4, 5 and 6. This week, students tried the listening activity to check their listening skills and understanding of the 3 self-introduction sentences. The video below shows students' amazing speaking practice, and the Role Play.

Welcome back to school and Japanese with Mio!

I am glad to see students trying their best learning Japanese from the start of Term.

PLC students had their first Japanese lesson on Monday. In the lesson, they learnt how to say Mio Sensei (Teacher Mio), and Konnichiwa (Hello). They all had a go speaking Japanese. Some students finished their work early so they tried writing some Japanese characters.

SLS, CLC and YYLC students explored the topic of New Year and Japanese Zodiac sign. Students practiced how to write and say "Happy New Year" in Japanese. They also have learned 2022 is the year of Tiger.

Please enjoy watching the video to see  YYLC students greeting in Japanese.
