Week 2: Indigenous Dance

After watching the ‘Kangaroo Dance’ and the ‘Emu Dance,’ students in Performing Arts have been discussing the importance of storytelling in dance, and respecting the cultural expression of Indigenous Dance. Rather than mimic an Indigenous dance used in ceremony, students used it as inspiration for their own dance-making processes. It was amazing to help students tell their own stories through dance of an Australian animal.
Well done to a YYLC small-group, who built and refined a 6-step dance about the Great White Shark.
