Signposts - How far from MPPS to our favourite landmarks?

Our students have been busy exploring the exciting world of measurement, specifically, how we measure length! Through hands-on activities and real-world problem solving, students have developed a strong understanding of units such as centimetres, metres, and kilometres.

We began by learning how to use rulers, metre sticks, and measuring tapes correctly. Students practised measuring everyday classroom objects, comparing lengths, and estimating distances before checking their results. These activities helped build both their accuracy and confidence.

To bring their learning to life, students created their own signposts! Each student chose a selection of their favourite places, some close to home and others from around Australia and the world. They then researched how far each destination is from our school and carefully measured and constructed signpost arrows to represent these distances.

The classroom quickly transformed into a colourful display of destinations.
