Today our PLC students were thrilled to celebrate book week by dressing up as their favourite book characters! This week students will participate in a variety of fun and engaging learning activities based on the books we enjoy reading in PLC! On the 19th of August our PLC students were thrilled to participate in their first Science Day!! This year our MPPS students explored the theme Seeds of Science by engaging in a variety of exciting science experiments. Our PLC students were ecstatic to work collaboratively alongside students from other learning communities and continued their excitement by sharing their learnings from the day with their families. Today PLC enjoyed a special visit from author Brett Cardwell! PLC students enjoyed following along Brett's guided drawings to create different cartoon characters. The students learnt new drawing techniques such as how adding lines to a cartoon picture can add expression and action to their drawings. Many PLC students left feeling inspired to become "artists" like Brett one day. Thank you Brett for a wonderful visit!! Today PLC celebrated 100 Days of learning! We are very proud to be 100 DAYS SMARTER! Thank-you to all of our families and the MPPS staff for supporting our learning and development. Preppies will enjoy the celebrations by completing lots of fun learning activities throughout the week all about the number 100. Our PLC students have worked hard and had a wonderful term of learning, here were some of the highlights:
- "I have enjoyed our writing piece about Clever Kangaroos" -"I have enjoyed learning all about 2D shapes" -"I have enjoyed learning all my new sounds, especially Roxy rabbit" We have had a fantastic last day celebrating with our CRAZY hair!! We hope all our PLC families have a restful and fun break. This semester our PLC students completed four stages of the Little Learners Love Literacy Program where they learnt all of the letters and sounds of the alphabet. To celebrate their achievements, our students had a very special dress-up party! Students came to school dressed as their favourite character from Milo’s Birthday Surprise. Throughout the day, the students participated in a range of fun literacy and numeracy activities including CVC musical chairs, Milo's alphabet hunt and pom pom counting. The day ended with a disco party where the students celebrated their achievements with their peers. Well done to our PLC students!! This term our PLC students and their grade 5/6 buddies completed a project for our MAPPEN unit about environmental habitats. Together, the buddies showed COLLABORATION by planning, building and researching different biomes and habitats. They then shared their hard work by presenting their completed dioramas to their peers. It was fantastic to see our grade 5/6 buddies mentor and teach our PLC students throughout the term. Well done PLC and YYLC students!! National Sorry Day is held annually on the 26th of May. On this day, we acknowledge the Stolen Generations and painful trauma that they endured.
In PLC, our students understood that the government, or in the words of our preps “The bosses of Australia” made terrible and cruel decisions that impacted our First Nations People. The students wrote “Sorry” and decorated a hand. Teachers asked each student why we were doing this activity and here are some the thoughtful responses from our preps:
Thank-you to all of our loved ones for making our learning time extra special during the MPPS Education Week open morning. This years theme was showcasing our school! Our prep students were delighted to share their learnings from our Little Learners Love Literacy program. The preppies eagerly shared how they have learnt syllables using robot arms by making robots of their own. It was a heart warming sight to witness education and bonding seamlessly intertwined in the classroom, creating lasting memories for both students and their loved ones. We have had a terrific start to Term 2 in PLC. Our prep students began participating in our PMP program with the help of our grade 6 leaders. PMP is a program where the prep students will work in small groups and rotate through a number of ‘stations’ taking part in activities designed to develop gross motor skills such as balance, coordination, spatial awareness, body awareness and fitness. Our PLC students will take part in PMP every fortnight. We really enjoyed our first PMP session in the stadium! |
