Failing is Learning
Our Grade 3/4 students explored photography with a powerful message in mind: “failing is learning.” In small-groups, students carefully planned their shots, and then used timer photography with a front camera to capture creative images that represent this idea. BUT - they were not allowed to look at the photographs immediately after they were taken. This encouraged students to try their best, trust in their abilities and show a growth mindset. Students then reviewed their 10 or more photographs, selected the image that best conveyed their main idea, and deleted those that didn’t support their message. To complete their work, they added text to their chosen image to strengthen and clearly communicate their story. This project encouraged students to think critically, reflect on their learning, and express meaningful ideas through visual storytelling.
