Someone Else’s Shoes
Our Grade 1/2 students made a creative storyboard movie project called “Someone Else’s Shoes.” This meaningful project helped students express how to show empathy, develop storytelling skills, and experiment with expressing their ideas. Students in collaborative groups created a three-part visual story using photography. They captured 3 different camera angles
1. A high-angle photograph of shoes to represent stepping into someone else’s experience
2. A close-up photograph of facial expressions to show emotions
3. An eye-level photograph of a friend offering empathy and support through a kind gesture such as a hug or a reassuring tap on the back.
To bring their story to life, students also recorded audio to match their images, explaining how we can understand others by stepping into their shoes, recognising their feelings, and showing care and support.
Watch the example storyboard below.. enjoy!
