Well done to everyone for your hard work, dedication, and amazing team spirit!
The Grade 6 students recently took part in their final gala day of the year, competing in a European Handball tournament. They faced off against five other schools from the Bridge Inn North district, showcasing their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. It was a fantastic day filled with excitement, laughter, and camaraderie. All students enjoyed the experience, playing hard and supporting each other throughout the day, making memories that will last well beyond the final whistle.
We celebrated the last day of term 3 by dressing up in our favourite sporting team's colours. Holly ran an awesome parade and activities that students, families, and teachers participated in.
THANK YOU HOLLY :) Yesterday 47 students from CLC and YYLC travelled to Meadowglen Athletics Track to compete in the Bridge Inn North District Athletics Carnival. They were blessed with perfect weather and had a fantastic day competing and cheering each other on.
A special shout out to Anthony, Amy and Lynda who supervised and supported our athletes on the day. Everyone tried their absolute best and represented MPPS proudly. Congratulations to Jensen.H, Kai.S, Jake.W, Keiran.J, Shaelah.B, Talia.D, Harper.R, and Phoebe.L who have made it through to the Whittlesea Division Athletics Carnival, on Tuesday the 10th of September. We are thrilled to inform you that Mimi Hill and Marianna Anthony, two talented AFLW players from the Carlton Football Club, visited our school this week. They conducted an engaging clinic featuring kicking and handballing drills, followed by a lively Q&A session where students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the sport and the players' experiences. During recess, Mimi and Marianna joined the students on the oval for a fun kick-to-kick session, creating memorable moments and inspiring our young athletes.
This week in PE, our students celebrated NAIDOC Week by learning about some of Australia's remarkable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander athletes and the sports they excel in.
As a warm-up, they played a traditional Indigenous game called Apwerte, where students had to roll a ball between two bowling pins. They were inspired by Cathy Freeman and participated in a sprinting game, practiced netball skills like Donelle Wallam, played tennis like Ash Barty, honed their AFL goal-kicking with Charlie Cameron, developed basketball skills inspired by Patty Mills, and engaged in handballing target practice like Bobby Hill. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to recognize and appreciate the contributions of these outstanding athletes while having fun and staying active. For the second half of Term 2 SLC, CLC and YYLC completed a gymnastics unit. They learned how to make shapes with their bodies, to jump and land safely, to rotate; turn, roll and spin, and all about rhythmic gymnastics. Next term SLC will continue to explore gymnastics and PLC will begin their gymnastics unit. It is such a fun way for students to move their bodies and be healthy! Take a look at our gymnasts below. Take a look at our Preps in action doing the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP).
PMP is a program based on movement that helps younger students enhance their hand-eye and foot-eye coordination. PMP is also a fantastic tool for supporting students growth in areas such as fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills. |
