Imagine A World

Imagine a world with no money. No money at all. Without all the problems…like car repairs - you need a car for transport, otherwise you’d have to walk KILOMETRES and that would take hours but in a car it would take merely minutes! And imagine how tired you would be. And rent - we pay SO much money (that we need for food) just to live under the tiniest roof. Gas - SO EXPENSIVE. We need petrol for our car to even move! All these problems… just because of money. If only money could simply disappear…

Everyone was unreasonably over-working, just for a small amount of money - for food, for water, for water bills, electricity bills, rent, gas, children's education, fines, car repairs,  etc. Until…

I woke up one morning, it was a dark and gloomy winter morning as usual. I was so relieved when I remembered it was a student free day. I sat up on my bed, tired as a koala. My mum strolled into the room, “Morning,” she said calmly. “Morning…” I replied. “I was wondering if you could come to the shops with me?”my mum asked. “Fine…” I groaned. I lifted myself off the soft, cosy, warm bed. I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I pulled on a red velvet shirt,  jeans and then put a jumper on top.

“I'm ready,” I called from upstairs. I went downstairs to find the most delicious smell wafting through the room. “Mmm… Pancakes?” “You got that right!” my Mum replied optimistically. I quickly gobbled my flat, buttery goodness and got out of my chair. We hopped into the car and my mum turned the key. I watched the trees go past through the window. But suddenly, as we got onto the street leading to the shops…we were staring at a blank patch of grass where the shops were supposed to be! “Where are the shops!?” I exclaimed. “Have they moved the shops?” my mum asked the air, astonished. “Strange. Nevermind, we’ll just go home.” We drove back home and we went inside. I plopped down on the couch, thinking about the missing shops. My mum turned on the TV and the news came up. “The Prime Minister has officially declared that there shall be no money and everyone shall own a garden for food instead of shopping at your local shops,” the TV person informed us. Me and my mum stared at each other with bright, cheery, joyful smiles. “We can get a new house!” we both chorused.

My mum turned on her phone and checked the news again. “The news says that everyone will get a new house on the hills for free!” “YAY WE'RE FINALLY MOVING!” Me and my mum both squealed. We were SO delighted that we were moving to the hills.I started packing straight  away. I couldn't wait a second more. I packed all my clothes and belongings. My mum did the same. We started a new life with no money…

Would you like a world with no money?
