2025 PREP ENROLMENTS
In 2023, the Department of Education (DE) released a new state-wide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The purpose of time timeline is to inform families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school.
The timeline applies to all children starting Foundation (Prep) in 2025. All government primary schools will follow the timeline in 2024 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2025 school year. To be eligible for school enrolment, children must turn 5 by the 30th April

What you need to do:
- Book a tour via CompassTix
- Download the Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents and Carers and complete the application form (page 9)
- Submit the complete the application form to [email protected] or in person to the general office by Friday 26th July 2024.
- The outcome of your application will be notified by email between Monday 29th July – Friday 9th August, 2024. If you receive an offer of placement, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 23rd of August 2024 and complete an enrolment form.
- Attend our Prep Information Evening (for 2025 enrolled families) from 6pm-7pm on Wednesday, 9th October
- Your child will be invited to take part in our school’s Pathway to Prep transition program during Term 4, 2024
- Foundation (Prep) students will commence a staggered start on Friday 31st January 2025.

If you are interested in enrolling your child at Mernda Park Primary School please download the Enrolment Application form to complete your child’s application. Completed forms can be submitted by email to [email protected] or in person via the general office. Outcomes for all applications will be notified by email.
Enrolment applications are subject to the department Placement Policy.
Students residing in our zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. Parents will be encouraged to enrol at their closest government school. Acceptable proof of address is required before an enrolment can be confirmed, eg. rates notice, tenancy agreement. To establish if Mernda Park Primary School is your nearest government school, please use the Find My School website. International Students are welcome at MPPS. An interview and an orientation session with the Principal or Assistant Principal, providing information about MPPS, surrounding community facilities, public transport etc., will be conducted with the student and parent/carers, once enrolment is confirmed. Students and parents/carers will be given a safety card with relevant emergency and safety contact details. As required translation services will be provided.

We are a Resource Smart School and aim to be paperless wherever possible. Most communication with families is conducted via email or Compass School Manager.
