Our excursion was a fun-filled and educational day out at the zoo, where we become Wild Explorers and learned how we can respect and care for animals. We used our five senses and exercised our inquiring minds to learn about what makes animals special and uncover animals' features, habitats, life cycles and what they need to survive. Take a look at our adventures! As a part of our procedural writing unit, we engaged in a pretend campfire experience and explored the steps involved in roasting marshmallows. We have been eagerly awaiting Gus Gordon to visit us during book week! Take a look at the puppets we created from one of our favourite Gus Gordon stories, The Last Peach.
The celebrate National Science Week, we engaged in some fun science experiments and STEAM activities with our grade 6 buddies - Activity 1: exploring digital technologies using Bee Bots. Activity 2: rescuing toy insects by discovering ways to melt ice. Activity 3: discovering static electricity using streamers and balloons. Using the story 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff', we have been discovering the variety of ways that materials can be used to design and construct objects. We used plasticine to create a 'Billy Goat' character and wood to build a home for the Billy Goat. We celebrated 100 Days of Learning with lots of fun English and Mathematics activities throughout the week. We are very proud to be 100 DAYS SMARTER! Thank-you to all of our families and the MPPS staff for supporting our learning and development. The prep students together with their grade 6 Buddies created a wonderful piece of collaborative artwork. This artwork was developed by Zachary Bennett-Brook. Zachary is a contemporary artist and Indigenous man of Torres Strait Islander ancestry, born and raised on Dharawal Country.
We have been learning about 2D shapes in our environment. Take a look at our creative shape monsters! |
