JAPANESE

Japanese Learning Progress - Week 5 Term 2

19/5/2021

We are already in Week 5 of Term 2!
In Japanese, students have been working hard on learning Japanese writing. I am very impressed that all students are giving a go to attempt writing in Japanese.

Simon LC

The learning topic for SLC students is “pets.”
Students are learning 6 pet words and they have been practicing on their recognition, reading, writing and speaking skills in the last 5 weeks.

The other thing SLC students have been practicing every week is to learn a song called “If you are happy and you know it” in Japanese. They absolutely love this song and have been working hard to remember Japanese lyrics.
Here is a youtube video link in case your child would like to sing the song at home.

The learning topic for CLC students is “transport.”
Students are learning 6 transports in Japanese and they have been practicing on their recognition, reading, writing and speaking skills in the last 5 weeks. They also learnt about Japanese public transport cultures such as Shinkansen (bullet train), Japanese cartoon wrapped transports, and unique public transport facilities and cultures. Students absolutely enjoyed learning about Pokemon Train and Hello Kitty Bullet Train.

The learning topic for YYLC students is “months of the year.”
In the last 4 weeks, students learnt how to write “numbers 1-12” in Japanese writing system called Kanji. This was the first time for YYLC students to learn Kanji. However, students did some amazing work in reading and writing. Students also tried some simple maths in Japanese. From this week, students started learning how to say and write “months of the year.”
