Healesville Sanctuary Excurison

On Wednesday the 5th of May YYLC had an incredible day of learning and exploring at Healesville Sanctuary.
 
Our grade 4 students investigated the features, life cycles and habitats of our unique native animals and learnt how to become a hero to help wildlife. 
 
The 5/6 students explored animals adaptations and were introduced to the adorable Mountain Pygmy Possum as they investigated how they can help to care for endangered species.
 
All students engaged in Wurundjeri history and culture through their connection to wildlife. We listened to the Dreamtime story of Bunjil, told by Wurundjeri Elder Murrundindi at the beginning of the Spirits of the Skies show before watching the birds of prey appear before us- Wow! What an experience!
A big thank you to Peta and Liam, our Healesville Sanctuary Educators for sharing with us their knowledge of animals, adaptations and conservation. Also to Susie and Veronica for coming along and sharing this experience.
Inspired by the conservation of endangered species at Healesville Sanctuary, we will continue to share ideas, actions and spread stories of hope.
