Imagine A World Of Parallel Universes
The present world is in danger, and its fate lies in the hands of an 11 year old boy.
The door swings open, I wave hello to my lovely neighbourhood, as I prepare to enjoy my beautiful daily stroll, and apparently, so does my neighbour Jeff. I greet him and carry on, soaking in the marvellous sun rays. The sun looks at earth with a beautiful smile. The neighbours run into raging sprinklers, smiling, laughing, enjoying their time. This day could not get any better.

The empty lake trickles, like something colossal is about to emerge from it. The trees rustle, branches bend in the wind, only now the wind is blowing in the opposite direction as it was before. This feeling is strong, unable to be ignored. Something feels off with our world. I walk around to find the source of the shift, only to be rudely interrupted by my sister, who delivered the lunch that I had forgotten at home. I carry on after I thank her. FWIP! I look around me, and what lies in front of me is… extraordinary!

ZZZT! A car bolts straight over my toes. I look down to expect a flattened foot, only to find it perfectly fine. I sneak a glance at the car… It was levitating at least one metre above the ground?! Astonished, I look around. Houses tower around me, with glowing doors and windows that you can’t see through. “This looks so futuristic” I thought. Then it struck me. I know where I am… I AM in the future. Realising where I am, I run towards the very spot that brought me here. I close my eyes and hope it works. I open my eyes and accept the hard truth, I am stuck.

I pace up and down the street, not knowing where to go and what to do. I feel like my soul was stolen, reaped by the cruelty of life, left to die in the emptiness of the void… I snap out of my endless misery, and focus on the infinite opportunities that surround me. I have a strange yet compelling feeling for… adventure. I look at the house behind me and think. “What are the odds?” Im staring at what looks like a toy car, yet bigger. I jump in, not knowing if I’m breaking the law or not, yet my instincts tell me to soar in the sky like an eagle. I turn it on and fly away. Preparing for the adventure of a lifetime! This new world- my new world is charming. I can’t believe I got this opportunity! The Eiffel Tower’s lights glisten around the fluffy, white snow, with even more futuristic houses around, yet this time the houses are still, with their sights fixed on the view. Everything around me goes white. “Woohoo” I shout as I enter hyperspace. I fly further and further into space. Jupiter is looking lovely tonight. Ahh it’s cold, maybe I should head back to Earth now. This has been beautiful.

I have been thinking, do I still exist back in the present now? If not, then does my family remember me, do they miss me? This adventure has been astonishing, yet there is no place like home. I lay awake in my bed that night, and I came up with a quote…

The future is missing something. It is missing family.
