Imagine A World

It was a normal day. The sun was out. Everyone was having fun. Birds soar through the crystal, clear skyline, not a cloud in the sky. “Bob, did you put your sunscreen on?”
“Yes mum of course I did mum. Who doesn’t put on sunscreen? Of course I did!”
“Ok you can go back to the water.” Bob's foot melts into the sand like chocolate melts in your fingertips. Splash! Diving into the water…

Suddenly, all of the beautiful weather vanished. The sun and seagulls disappeared. Shocked, everyone including Bob, jumps out of the water. Mum drags me to our Chevrolet Mako. Mum puts the foot on the gas, VROOM! As I nearly fly out of my seat, I grip tightly. Mum announces“ I don’t like the look of these woods we are heading into.” If Mum is nervous, so am I.  Mum brakes hard and screeches the car to a halt, a long, dark skid mark left in the car park. We ran and stood under a tree, “Mum?” I asked “Why did we run to the woods in the first place?”
“You will soon see.”

Without warning, emerging from the trees, a silver, round object reveals itself.  Round with spiky bolts as spiky as a cactus, a green glow coming from the glass. It illuminates the sky. Bweep Bwoop! “What is that noise mother?”
“I do not know. But, I know it is dangerous."
“We should get to the car Mum!”
“Yes I agree son.”
As I finished my sentence, a huge plasma beam shines from the weird hovering vehicle and hits our car. “No our car!” “What do we do now? We are done for! They have plasma beams and everything!” “RUN!” We scurry to bushes and hide. The UFO sits, still and patient.  All of a sudden, it produces a flight of stairs. Green creatures with black eyes jump out. They are holding guns. The weird creature pulls the trigger, a ray of light surrounds our car and gets sucked in.  A log flies over my head.  I try to run the opposite direction, yet am getting pulled and sucked in towards the UFO. I grasp a tree next to me, desperately trying to save myself. “Mum, are we going to be alright?”
“I don't know son.”The only thing left around to be sucked in is…me. I'm going to be next. I am scared to death. “Mum, I love you.” And with that, the force drags me into the black hole.

I am in some sort of rift, levitating past random items. I see a car, ‘The Delorean’ from the past. I see houses with bricks crumbling off, a beat up  log flies over my head. I wonder if it was the one from earlier bark shreds off. We come to a stop. I fell out of the rift and cannot control myself. I belly flop into a huge pool of what feels like concrete. I come up to the surface and I see…a wonderland. This world is next level and without the green creatures having captured us we would have never discovered such a world.  I look upon the horizon. A mountain sits up ahead, a roller coaster wraps around the mountain at the bottom. I climb up the stairs to get out of the pool. “Mum, is that you?” “Son!” I run and give her a huge hug, finally a familiar face. “Where are we?”  Mum responds “I'm pretty sure we are on Mars.” “MARS! This is crazy.” “Let’s explore mother.” We walk away from the swimming pool and follow a sign that reads ‘Welcome to Rickety, Rocky Mars!...’

We walk into a strange building and a guy at the front welcomes us. He says as a welcome gift to the planet, we receive a hover car and capsule to call home. You throw the capsule and a house pops up. I can hardly believe my eyes.  “Where are we going to go mother?”
“To a clear piece of land then we will deploy our new house,” states Mum, making the best of the situation.  This is what the new world is to us.

It doesn’t matter what your world looks like, as long as you have each other.
