Happy Holidays to Our Mernda Park Community! Unfortunately, we were unable to have a Christmas Concert this year… but to ensure we still celebrated this wonderful time of year, we have created a Christmas video for our wonderful MPPS families and community. All dances are student choreographed and made with love and joy. We hope you enjoy our video and have a fantastic holiday break. The Performing Arts focus for Semester Two of 2020 has been Music. Students from all Learning Communities have enjoyed learning about rhythm, pitch, beat and how to play many instruments. Take a look at students from PLC learning how to play rhythms on various instruments and students from SLC, CLC and YYLC collaborating and composing their own rhythms.
Remote Learning 2.0We spent Term 3 of 2020 learning from home in order to keep ourselves and community safe. But this did not stop us from learning and growing each day. Last Week of Term 3 Fun!In the last week of Term 3, students from all Learning Communities were able to select one or two fun activities to complete from a Musical Matrix. Have a look at what our amazing MPPS students created!
The MPPS Choir have been working hard during remote learning to continue their singing practise on top of everyday learning activities. In Term 2 they learned the song ‘Count On Me’ by Bruno Mars and have created a video to share with the MPPS Community. Please enjoy this video of the MPPS Choir. All Learning Communities have been crazy busy learning about Stop Motion and creating their own movies. They have combined their knowledge of photography and sound effects to create some fantastic short movies. Have a look at what each Learning Community has created! Yan Yean Learning CommunityThe first time YYLC trialed Stop Motion, we created our own 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' movies. Then we got creative and made our own movies using a variety of objects and materials.
Simon and Carome Learning CommunityWell, well, well... SLC and CLC had a lot of fun recreating a Stop Motion about candy. The movie is about an M&M that becomes separated from his friends. He goes looking for them but only to see other groups of candy. He feels very alone... UNTIL! He spots a big packet of M&M's! He runs towards them... BUT someone grabs him and eats him *CRUNCH*
Plenty Learning CommunityPLC created Stop Motion movies about 'The Three Little Pigs' story. BUT with a small twist... we changed our characters! Wow! What an experience Remote Learning was! Each day we all learned something new... something about our school work, technology or ourselves. Thank YouThank you to every single student who tried their best and completed their Performing Arts work during Remote Learning. Thank you to every single family member who assisted and supported their learner with the work and activities set daily. PLC - Three Little Pigs Comic BooksDuring Remote Learning, Plenty Learning Community learned about storytelling with only pictures - no words! We read the Owly, Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbes comic strips while creating our own Three Little Pigs Comic. SLC - Sock Puppets and Camera AnglesIn Term 1, Simon Learning Community learned about Camera Angles. To revise Camera Angles during Remote Learning, we made sock puppets then did a photoshoot with them. CLC - 'How To' Tutorial VideosCarome Learning Community had the exciting task of planning, filming and editing their own 'How To' Tutorial Video during Remote Learning.
YYLC - Comic BooksLastly, Yan Yean Learning Community planned, created and published their very own Comics during Remote Learning.
We learned about narration panels, speech, thought and exclamation bubbles. As well as different genres of comic books. Carome Learning CommunityCLC students were challenged to take 12 photos... and 12 photos only to show what we do in a school day. First: To help us plan we used storyboards. We planned the setting, camera angle and props needed for each photo on our storyboard, with a picture example of what the photo would look like. Second: Using iPads we took our 12 photos. Some groups finished early and created a movie with all of their photos, using the app iMovie. Yan Yean Learning CommunityIn the last week of term 1, YYLC students had a blast creating their own 'foot chase' sequences. We combined music, sound effects, slow motion and various different camera angles to create fantastic foot chases! Plenty Learning CommunityWow! What a fun first term of school it has been for our 2020 Preps! We have been busy learning about iPads: iPad safety, how to take photos, videos and voice memos. We have also be learning about sound effects: How to make them with our voices, bodies AND record them using various technologies. Orange & Blue Groups Green & Pink Groups In Simon and Carome Learning Communities, we have been learning about: 'Camera Angles' We have learned that different camera angles and shots help the viewer to understand or feel something about a scene, setting or character. For example: A Low Angle makes a character look bigger. This can be used to make a good guy look big and strong. Or a bad guy look big and scary. We had so much and would like to thank everyone who came to support us! Yan Yean Learning Community6 Photo Challenge YYLC students were challenged to show an interaction between a superhero and a villain in 6 photos. Editing with the Green Screen
At the beginning of term 1, all YYLC students learned how to create and edit a photo using the green screen and iMovie. |
